Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr believes new coach Eric Chelle will revamp Nigeria’s World Cup qualification chances.
Eric Chelle whose appointment caused a stir in the Nigerian football circles is hoping to convince fans of the national team he deserves to handle the job when he tackles Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the group C 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March.
And Rohr whose Benin Republic Cheetahs knock the Super Eagles under coach Finidi George cold in a group C tie said Eric Chelle is a good tactician who can turn around the fortunes of the Super Eagles.
“Nigeria has a new coach who is well known in France as a good tactician,” Rohr said.
“So you can say they are not joking with the remaining games in the World Cup qualifiers, which will mean my team (Benin Republic) need to work harder.”
Benin Republic are tied seven points with Rwanda and South Africa in group C, Nigeria so far has four points and need to collect all six points in their games in March to bounce back.
Eric Chelle had acknowledge that qualify from the group is his major focus and would get the team prepared for the task ahead.
