General Christopher Jemitola a former aide de camp to ex President Olusegun Obasanjo has slump and died while playing golf Thursday in Abuja.
General Jemitola was said to have slump while at the hole 4 of the Ibrahim Badamosi Babaginda Golf Course in Abuja. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
“It was so shocking. Our hearts are broken,” said Julie Okah Donli who is captain of the IBB Golf Course ladies section
“He came full of life in the morning. A real gentle man and always a supporter of the ladies section.”
Jemitola, who hails from Ososo in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, had a distinguished military career, marked by several key appointments.
He served as the Corps Commander of the Nigerian Army Signals and Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to Brazil. He also held the pivotal role of Director of Army Public Relations, contributing significantly to the country’s defense and communication strategies.
From 2003 to 2007, he served with President Obasanjo as his trusted ADC, all while serving as a Colonel. His dedication to duty and leadership skills were integral during his tenure, before later advancing to become the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) in the Nigerian Army.
