The Gunmen who seized General Maharazu Tsiga rtd a former director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and nine others have demanded a N250 million.
General Tsiga rtd and the others were kidnapped by the gunmen numbering over 100 Thursday in a midnight raid of their community Tsiga in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to reports the gunmen have made contact with the family and are asking for N250m ransom to release the General and the others.
Meanwhile, residents of the community have fled their homes in fear of being attacked.
“Between Thursday and Friday, 400 people have already deserted the town,” a resident was quoted by Vanguard.
“General Tsiga is a big man in the town whom we all look up to. And if a general we all look up could be abducted like that, how much more ordinary people. So, the people are terrified and that’s why they are fleeing the community.
“The reason we have been able to live in this community despite the banditry is because of General Tsiga and now he has been kidnapped. So, who are we to stay back? Whoever chooses to say back, does that at his or her own peril.”
