Napoli director Giovanni Manna said the club is working to avoid a repeat of the transfer fiasco of Victor Osimhen during the 2024 summer window.
Three potential deals for Osimhen failed to sail through and on deadline day, he secured a loan move to Galatasary of Turkey, where continues to grab the headlines with 20 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions so far.
He has been linked to Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea one of the suitors who presented a bid for the player last year, but there was no agreement. Osimhen’s contract with Napoli will expire in 2027 and the Italian club he helped to winning the Serie A title in 2023 are willing to trade in the summer and not lose out.
“Victor is always going to be a hotly-debated topic and not just on the transfer market,” Manna told Sky Sport Italia.
“He is an appetising player for clubs, he has a clause and everyone knows this, we are working to find a solution as quickly as possible, so that we can avoid what happened last year.”
Osimhen for now said he is happy playing in Turkey, but does not know which club he would be playing for next season. “Like I didn’t know I will end up in Galatasaray this season.”
