Veterans Wrestlers of Nigeria president, Morris Atula has reiterated his commitment to reviving the sport in Nigeria.
Mr. Atula who paid a special visit to National Sports Commission (NSC) chairman , Shehu Dikko Thursday in Abuja, said he has multiple agenda to make Nigerian wrestling achieve its true potentials and wants the NSC to endorse his quest to be the next Nigeria Wrestling Federation president.
Atula, a former Nigeria Commonwealth and World Wrestling Champion assured Dikko that he has the resource and contacts to bring Nigerian Wrestling to the world level.
Atula who recently relocated to Nigeria after four decades in Europe said,” I have the local and International partners ready to contribute to revival of our Wrestling. I have the; exposure , passion and contacts to generate and develop the talents begging for exposure. Beside knowing what the Federation need immediately , I’m certain of sponsorship from abroad , Companies and Sports loving individuals. I’m also confident that state Governors all over the country would appreciate our drive and fully support our programs “.
While appreciating the appointment of Dikko and Bukola Olapade as NSC Chairman and Director General , Atula said the Veteran Wrestlers are inspired to play key roles in revival of Wrestling.
“It’s a case of matching big pocket with passion , experience and technocrats I have worked hard to rule the Wrestling World and got lot of experience doing business in different parts of the world. I personally appreciate the outgoing board hence the NSC leadership should flag off this positive and bold move to fully develop Wrestling ,” said the Edo Wrestling Association chairman as he vowed a special health care program alongside regular training and competitions in all 36 States of the nation, including the FCT.
