The 2025 MTN CHAMPS Schools’ Athletics competition and Athletics Classics, will roll off Thursday March 13 in Benin City Edo State.
This is the third year of the Championships, in which over 7, 000 athletes and 500 schools across the country have registered to participate competing in three age categories: Cadet (U-14), Youth (U-17), and Junior (U-20).
There is also the senior category which will see national athletes vie for honours in the event billed to also hold in Lagos (April 9 to 12) and Uyo, which will host the grand finale April 30 to May 3.
In Benin City, the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will host the senior category, while the University of Benin Sports Complex will have the school’s competition.
According to the organisers of the event Making of Champions, they are partnering with the School Sports Federation (NSSF) to ensure the widespread access and participation of schools and their students across the host cities of CHAMPS.
Also, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will continue as the official Technical Partner of CHAMPS to ensure that all races are electronically timed, and all results are ratified for global recognition by World Athletics.
