Social Media influencer Martins Vincent Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been slapped with an arrest warrant by a Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, over an alleged “criminal defamation” gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the warrant for arrest Thursday after VDM failed to appear in Court to respond to the allegations against him. He ordered the Nigeria Police and other law enforcement agencies to produce VDM who was served with the court summons on March 5, 2025, in the next hearing.
The Court rejected a plea by VDM’s counsel Deji Adeyanju, to step down the warrant of arrest promising to produce him in the next court date.
Mercy Chinwo was aggrieved by VDM’s intrusion into her $345,000 royalties dispute with Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, a.k.a Eezee Tee. VDM had made sweeping allegations of dishonesty against her on social media.
Mercy Chinwo furnished the court with documentary evidence, including emails and payment receipts, to substantiate that VDM’s allegations were not only entirely false but damning and injurious to her public image and reputation. She has also filed a seperate suit at an Abuja High Court, seeking N1.1bn damages from VDM.
