Former Nigerian athletes whose lives were touched by late coach Harrison Momoh have pledged to honour his memory in many ways.
One of such is ensuring that his young kids who are 18 and 11 years respectively are catered for as they continue their young lives and development.
Coach Momoh one of Nigeria’s renowned track and field coach died at 83 this month after a long illness. Last week a procession was held in his honour in Ilorin, Kwara State where he spent most of his adult life while coaching numerous Nigerian athletes some of them living in Europe and United States.
His funeral has been tentatively fixed for April 10 in Ilorin and the former athletes all around the world are rallying round to ensure that he gets a befitting burial. One of the athletes in the tick of this effort said apart from track and field athletes, other sports men and women coach Momoh inspired are also joining throwing in their might.
“Lots of athletes those he coached and those he did not coach including basketball players are rallying round to see what they can do to ensure his young wife and kids are well catered for.
“Some have even promised to make a certain amount available every month to ensure that the kids’ education is not hindered.
“Coach Momoh touched and inspired a lot of athletes and coaches, he was a selfless man whose legacy should be honoured,” the athlete told mainlandmetronews.com.ng.
