A 31-year-old Nigerian man has been arrested by the India police in Odisha for allegedly causing the death of a woman he was blackmailing with nude pictures.
The unidentified Nigerian who is resident in New Delhi since 2020 was reported to have collected millions of rupees from his victim, but he kept coming back for more. And when the woman got fed up, the Nigerian man made good his threat to expose her naked pictures and sex tapes. Unable to bear the humiliation, she took her own life.
Her family reported the case on March 1 at Dharghabazar police station in Cuttack and he was arrested by investigators on Sunday.
“In her suicide note, the victim had mentioned international WhatsApp numbers and domestic phone numbers. She also mentioned that some persons cunningly obtained her private photographs and blackmailed her,” said Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, DCP (Cuttack).
“During investigation, we found that calls were made using the internet through a mobile number operating in Uttam Nagar and Palam area of Delhi. Acting on that input, our special team visited New Delhi and arrested the accused.”
