Zimbabwe Warriors are hopeful of causing an upset when they play against the Super Eagles in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
They are still without a win after five games in group C where they occupy the bottom spot, but according to coach Michael Nees, his team will aim to play and win.
“We cannot afford a slow start. Our focus must be unwavering throughout the match.”
Also captain Marshal Munetsi added that they are determined to make history by beating the Super Eagles.
“I think all the guys want to achieve something historic—something that has never been done in our country,” he said during a media interaction on Monday.
“It is something that will motivate us and give us the energy to compete. We didn’t start the qualifiers the way we would have liked, as we dropped points away from home.
“We don’t have the same privilege as Nigeria, who are playing their home games at home, but everyone should understand that we are not here for a holiday—we are here to make our own history.”
