The police in Benue State have arrested members of the kidnap gang that hijacked a Benue Links bus last Thursday
According to the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene some of the gang members were arrested during an operation on Sunday around Ogoli-Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
“Operation is ongoing in Otukpo, and I am aware that some suspects have been arrested,” said Anene.
In Thursday attacked two persons were killed and 13 passengers taken by the kidnappers, they have now been rescued following the operation carried out by the police and the State Protection Guards.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Salleh, Ashimu, and Abuh Umaru, were chased and apprehended by security operatives who had received intelligence on their whereabouts.
“We learnt from intelligence report that they are a gang of five kidnappers. Three have been apprehended. Security agents are going after the remaining two and their collaborators,” Otukpo local government chairman, Maxwell Ogiri said.
