Rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu a.k.a Odumodublvck has claimed that it was because he mentioned the name of Jesus that was why his mic was cut off during the 17th Headies Awards.
Odumodublvck was making his acceptance speech for winning the next rated artist when he was suddenly interrupted; a moment that went viral on social media.
“I was talking about Jesus, and they tried to shut me down,” he wrote on his X social media page.
“I am hundred percent sure that if I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu I would not have been cut off. I genuinely have no bad blood towards the Headies, rather, I am grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel.”
Odumodublvck had stormed the stage with his mother and ten other people. Organisers felt he was taking too much time making his speech and had to cut the mic to make him leave the stage, but the rapper refused to bulge, and the organisers had no choice but to turn on his mic back on.
“Against all odds, I have pushed against so many barriers like this,” he said. “Couple of years back, there were so many feelings we could not express through our music,” he poured his heart out after the mic came back on.
“The world clap us down; ‘you can’t be this,’ or ‘you can’t speak like,’ ‘you can’t do this,’ ‘you can’t release music in this way.’
“Me standing here today, is a proof that all those things are fallacies. It only would have been possible through my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, who have been there for me through thick and thin. Tonight, God has shown that God reigns.”
