Arsenal were hoping for a win against Bournemouth to boost their confidence ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Paris St Germain in Paris, but it was all disappointment at the Emirates Stadium.
Bournemouth inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Arsenal after Declan Rice had given the Gunners hope it will end in laughter, but they were outplayed.
Coach Mikel Arteta said his team was outrage and frustrated by the result, but wants his players to take that to Paris.
“We certainly wanted to create a really good vibe. A positive result would have really helped us to build what we wanted towards Wednesday.
“So, what we have created now is a lot of rage, anger, frustration and a bad feeling in the tummy, so make sure that we use that for Wednesday to have a massive performance in Paris, win the game and be in the final.”
Arsenal have failed to win any of their past three games in all competitions. What their fans did not expect was a full strength squad losing at home for the first time to Bournemouth.
Their hope for a trophy this season remains the Champions League, but they will have to come up with a big performance to overturn the 1-0 first leg loss in the first leg semi-final.
