Eric Garcia felt that Barcelona’s defeat to Inter was “cruel” after Hansi Flick’s side were beaten 4-3 in the second leg of their Champions League semi-fina
The right-back scored a brilliant goal to help Barca fight back from 2-0 down and go on to lead 3-2 in the second half.
However, Inter equalised at the death and went on to win the tie in extra-time, leaving Eric to reflect on what might have been.
“Football has been very cruel to us. I don’t know what it is about this stadium. I’ve been here three times and it’s never gone our way,” Garcia lamented.
“We have to be proud, no one believed in us, they said it was a transition year, that we were very young, and in the end, look at all this.”
“Football is about occasional mistakes. In the second half, we were far superior. We showed what a team we are. In extra time, they closed up really well, and it was already difficult. I don’t think it will affect Sunday. We exceeded expectations. The team comes out stronger today, even if it wasn’t to be.”
Barca will face Real Madrid on Sunday. at the Montjuic and can win the La Liga title.
