The police in Kano have arrested an 18-year-old woman, Saidat Jibril who allegedly slit her husband’s throat in a bizare twist of domestic violence.
Miss Jubril and her 30-year-old husband Salisu Idris according to neighbours were engaged in an argument at 12.35am Monday, May 6, 2025, which later led to a violent outcome in their residence at Farawa Quarters, Kano.
“The Kano State Police Command have arrested a suspect in connection with a culpable homicide case,” said a police statement signed by police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene.”
The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Police say Saidat allegedly used a sharp knife to cut her husband’s throat during the scuffle.
She is currently being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will be charged to court for culpable homicide.
CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for violence and criminal acts, assuring the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to nearby stations or via the Command’s emergency lines.
