Ikemefuna Ossai a suspect in the kidnap and murder of Anambra State House of Assembly member Hon. Justice Azuka has been rearrested by the police after he escaped from custody.
Hon. Azuka was kidnapped in Onitsha December 24, 2024 but was later murdered by the kidnap gang. His decomposing remains were found Second Niger Bridge in Onitsha on February 6, 2025. The police arrested nine suspects, but two escaped from custody
Anambra State police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said Tuesday that Ikemefuna Ossai was rearrested in Asaba Delta State on May 7, 2025 after dectectives had trailed him to multiple states and a neighbouring West African country.
‘’He was eventually apprehended on 7th May 2025 in Asaba, Delta State. Upon sighting the operatives, the suspect attempted to escape arrest but was swiftly subdued and sustained a gunshot wound to the leg in the process” Ikenga said
He said useful information has been obtained from the suspect that would aid in the tracking of the other fugitives.
