Nottingham Forest’s striker Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to make fully recovery after undergoing surgery for an abdominal injury sustained in Sunday’s match against Leicester.
Awoniyi was put into an induced coma after the surgery for his own comfort and to stabilise his condition. He is expected to be out of coma by Wednesday. But is not yet clear when he would be out of the hospital.
In an attempt to help Forest win and secure a Champions League spot, Awoniyi clattered into the goal post as he reached for Anthony Elanga’s cross in the 88th. He was treated, but brought back into the pitch again. After the match Forest owner had a word with coach Nuno Espirito Santo to know why Awoniyi was allowed to play with his injury.
