The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede Wednesday tearfully admitted that his organisation was at fault for the technical glitches and irregularities that marred the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
Prof. Oloyde announced that 173,387 candidates will retake the examination in 65 centres in Lagos and 92 centres in the Owerri Zone. He was visibly distressed as he told media representatives while fighting back his tears, that he accepted full responsibilty for the hiccus casued largely by the negligence of JAMB officials.
“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,” Oloyede said.
“The affected candidates will start getting text messages for rescheduling starting from tomorrow. 206,610 in 65 centres were affected in Lagos and 92 centres in the Owerri zone comprising 173,387 candidates in the five states of the South East were affected.
“So, I appeal to the candidates and those affected by the error of our system to accept this explanation as the truth of the matter without embellishment, PLEASE. I apologise and take full responsibility, not just in words,” he said.
“We have decided that all the candidates affected in the 157 centres out of 882 centres will be contacted to retake their examinations starting Friday, May 16, 2025.”
