The Port Harcourt Refinery would be shut down for maintenance beginning on May 24 by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).
According to the NNPCL Chief Corporate Communications officer, Femi Soneye the maintenance operations will begin on May 24, 2025.
“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown,” said a statement signed by M. Soneye.
“This scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment will commence on May 24,2025.
“We are working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently.
“NNPC Ltd remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security.”
The Port Harcourt Refinery was claimed to have been rehabilitated by the former management of the organisation led by Mele Kyari in December 2024 with the sum of $1.5 billion.
This would be the second time the complex would be shut down within a few months.
