Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has wished fans of the club who were injured when a car ploughed into Liverpool’s victory parade Monday evening a quick recovery.
A 53-year-old man was arrested for the crime, which left several people injured; 27 people were taken to hospital and 20 people were treated at the scene, with four children among the injured.
Van Dijk wrote on his social media page: “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Praying for a speedy recovery for everyone who suffered injuries. We are all with you.”
Also former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp who watched the parade said in a post on Instagram on Tuesday: “My family and I are shocked and devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected. You’ll never walk alone.”
FIFA president Gianni Infantino offered thoughts and prayers to everyone affected.
“Football stands together with Liverpool FC and all fans of the club following the horrific incident,” he said in a post on X.
