For the second time this year gunmen have attempted to raze Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home in Ihima, in the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi state.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, but for the quick intervention by local vigilantes, the house would have been razed down by the invaders. According to witnesses the vigilantes engaged the gunmen and in the process one of them was arrested.
The suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that the recent attack was the third time the family house of the lawmaker was attacked.
The suspect was reportedly handed over to the police for further interrogation after a cutlass and charms were recovered from him while other suspects with dangerous weapons involved in the attack were still at large.
The senator’s media team confirmed the incident, saying, “We call on the public to remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of justice.
“Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation.”
