Barely two days after the burial of late boxer Gabriel Olarenwaju, his sister has died bringing his family more grief.
This is just Olarenwaju’s widow, and his family members are in dispute over who should receive the $3000 donation made by the Ghana Boxing Association. Olarewaju,40, died in the ring during a bout at the Bokum Boxing Arena in Accra Ghana in April 2025 of cardiac arrest.
His body was returned back to Lagos for burial on June 19. But the family was hit with another death when his elder sister passed away.
Meanwhile the family has been torn apart by the donation made by the GBA
“The family members of my husband are fighting over the $3,000 donated by the entourage from Ghana. The money is yet to be given to me,” Maria Adebusola Olanrewaju said in an interview.
“Immediately we received my husband’s body, his family did not allow me to perform my rites. They did not give me and the children access,” she added.
