Athletes slugging it out at the selection trials

Nigerian junior athletes will go into two weeks of camping exercise to round off their preparations for the CAA U-18/U20 Championships after the conclusion of the two-day selection trials held in Sagamu, Ogun State.
Based on the outcome Athletics Federation of Nigeria officials are optimistic of a good outing at the CAA Championships bill for July 16-20 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena Abeokuta.
AFN head coach Solomon Aliyu stated that the selected team will give a good account of itself even though the overall goal of the federation at the CAA Championships is to give the young athletes some of whom are compete at the international level for the first time exposure.
He added the team will train at the Sagamu Stadium to put the selected athletes in top condition ahead of the CAA.
“Our chances at the CAA based on the outcome of the two days trials here in Sagamu is encouraging and the camping phase will prepare the athletes physically, mentally, technically and above all team spirit.
“Team Nigeria will be showcasing and exposing our future stars and it promises to be explosive. But for us it isn’t going to be a do or die affair for the young athletes.”
