After two weeks of training and conditioning, Athletics Federation of Nigeria coaches are hopeful their athletes will spring surprises at the Confederation of African Athletics U-18/U-20 Championships.
The competition will unfold at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta, Ogun State from July 16-20 and according to the coaches the young athletes are looking promising and are ready to deliver, the short period of preparations not withstanding.
“The individual performances of our sprinters is impressive and commendable from what we have seen them do at training and the AFN/Dynamic meet,” said AFN head coach Solomon Aliyu.
“The team coaches and the athletes have done so well kudos to them
“All I can say now is watch out for all the juniors that will represent Team Nigeria as they’re all ready and will be full of upsets and surprises.”
Being the hosts the AFN is presenting as many as 94 athletes at the CAA Championships with the aim to exposing them.
The U18 girls’ team will feature 42 boys and girls. Will the U-20 will have 54 men and women.
