Two days after the curtains were drawn on the CAA U-18/U-20 Championships, some of the junior athletes who represented Nigeria are yet to go back home to their parents.
This is because they haven’t been paid any allowance to enable them afford transportation fare back to their respective abode.
Some of the kids were seen in a video lamenting their plights, while some others had their parents call on coaches to ensure their children come back home safe and sound.
“These young athletes have been in camp for more than three weeks now, some were lucky to be paid N36, while others had nothing at,” said an athletics observer.
“More troubling are the group of athletes who couldn’t compete because they are 15 years old.
“These children were not given anything, not a dime, no track suits a

“These children were not given anything, not a dime, no track suits and shoes to make them happy for coming and willing to represent their country, but for the rules that stopped them.
“Their colleagues from other countries Botswana, South Africa who couldn’t also compete because of the same rules, got kits.”
