Chelsea FC central defender Tosin Adarabioyo said the question of playing for Nigeria is something that has bugged him since becoming a professional footballer.
However, Adarabioyo who won the FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea said he is approaching the junction where he would provide an answer to his fans and Nigeria Football Federation officials who had been nuding him to join the Super Eagles.
The 27 years-old defender was in Lagos to connect with his roots and also establish a youth soccer competition and he used the occasion to address the burning question of which country, England or Nigeria.
” This is something that has obviously been a topic for many years now since I’ve become a professional footballer, Adarabioyo said on Arsie TV.
“It’s something I still think about. We’ll see in the near future, hopefully, and I’ll start to make a decision… . But again, like I said, we’ll see.”
He noted that he was very proud of his heritage.
“My mum is from Ekiti. Our plan is to go there and look around where my mum was raised and lived.
“My brother will know better than me, my dad is from Lagos.”
He added that he and the rest of his Chelsea teammates are looking forward to a rewarding 2026 season in the Premier League and the Champions League they will be playing.
“Obviously, when you look long-term, I want to win everything,” Adarabioyo said.
“But as a footballer, you have to focus on the moment and the upcoming year. That’s my target now, to look at this season, to play as well as we can and win as much as possible.”
