Nigeria’s D’Tigress Saturday evening rallied round to beat their Senegalese opponents 75-68 in the semi-final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket played at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, Côte d’Ivoire.
Having out dunked Senegal in the thrilling encounter the Nigerian women are in lock step to win their fifth consecutive Afrobasket title.
In the A rated game the Senegalese women guided by Otis Hughley, a former D’Tigress coach had put their noses in front giving the D’Tigress some anxious moments as they went 11-2 in the first three minutes.
But the D’Tigress refused to be caged closing the first quarter with 22-17 points. In the second quarter Senegal punched back and had 43-37 points lead
The third quarter was even harder for D’Tigress. The Senegalese held on to their lead with a 58-52 advantage.
But D’Tigress bared their fangs in the fourth fighting for every ball
and wrestled turnovers to overwhelm the Senegalese with seven points.
Nigeria will face Mali in the final on Sunday.
