Manchester United coach Reuben Amorim said his side must make a bright start to their season by beating Arsenal in their 2025/26 Premier League opener on Sunday.
Arsenal runners up in the league for three seasons are visiting Old Trafford where they had escaped defeats in two Premier League outings last season. But according to Amorim they hope to have a good start in their quest to play European football.
“We want to return to Europe. We have to be realistic with our fans. We will have to fight a lot because there are more teams with time together than us.
“We have to focus game by game. We want to win against Arsenal,” the coach.
Meanwhile new signing Bryan Mbeumo said his partnership with newly signed attackers Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko can quickly settle in.
Mbeumo told TNT: “(Matheus) Cunha is a really good player, it’s good that we could share some training (sessions) on the pitch together because it’s always important to have good automatisms in the team, and a strong link in front,” began the Cameroon international.
“(We’ve been doing) some striker work, some forward work. I think we still have some freedom up front, but there are some principles to respect.
“I don’t expect anything (in terms of playing positions). I think obviously it’s going to be the manager’s choice to play the players.
“Obviously, I think it’s important to be able to play different positions, so I’m going to be playing wherever I can.”
