Striker Ademola Lookman Tuesday showed up for training at Atalanta, but was asked to stay away from the team for two weeks.
Lookman had gone missing in action after Atalanta turned down a €45m bid from Inter Milan. He tendered a transfer request, but it seems his wish of joining Inter will not materialise. Atalanta said they prefer a deal with club outside the Serie A. However, the club is looking to resolve the issue with Lookman who is ready to play again.
Meanwhile Arsenal are reported to be eyeing the player as a replacement for Leandro Trossard, if he leaves North London before the end of the transfer window.
Gabriel Martinelli is also expected to move on.
According transfer expert Fabrizio Romano the Gunners will likely come for Lookman if Trossard or Martinelli leave.
“For example, let’s see what happens at Arsenal. Arsenal are very happy with the squad they have right now up front. In terms of age, Lookman is probably not exactly the profile of player that Arsenal usually sign.
“But maybe if Trossard decides to leave in the final weeks, that could be an opportunity.”
