A Palestinian born in Nigeria has been arrested by the Nigerian police anti-terrorism squad for allegedly questioning the killing of journalists and children in Gaza.
Ramzy Abusafiah Ibrahim was picked up in Abuja last weekend and his whereabout remain unknown to his family.
“He was arrested on Friday by the security operatives. They identified themselves as the Anti-Terrorism squad. This man is not a stranger in Nigeria. He has been here for over 35 years, and he went to school in this country,” a family source told SaharaReporters.
“As we speak, we (the family) don’t know where he is, and we don’t know which station he is being detained. The only reason we might link to his arrest was his recent advocacy on the growing attacks on journalists and other vulnerable people in Gaza.”
Ibrahim, who is the chairman of the Palestinian Nigerian community in recent weeks has voiced his concern about the dire situation in the Gaza strip.
The Palestinian Embassy in Nigeria refused to comment on the arrest, while the Nigerian security agency that is holding him are not forthcoming with information on his arrest.
