A fugitive Chinese gang leader Dai Qisheng has been arrested by the Nigeria police in Abuja and repatriated by back to Beijing to face justice.
The arrest was a collaboration between the Nigeria police, Interpol and the Chinese embassy in Nigeria.
Dai, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for orchestrating and leading violent organised crimes, fled his country in 2024 after the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County issued a warrant for his arrest.
He sought refuge in Nigeria but was tracked and apprehended by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja on August 8, 2025, in the capital city.
Following his arrest, the fugitive was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL.
