Jose Mourinho has been let go by Turkish club side Fenerbahce after they failed to reach the league phase of the Champions League.
Fenerbahce lost 1-0 to Benfica on aggregate in the playoffs.
In a statement, Fenerbahce said Mourinho had “parted ways” with the club, before thanking the 62-year-old for his efforts and wishing him well.
With the latest sacking Mourinho has joined the league of the most sacked football managers. He was sacked by Chelsea twice, Manchester United, Tottenham, Roma and now Fenerbahce. Other managers who belong to that category include Claudio Ranieri, Roy Hodgson and Sam Alardyce.
Mourinho, joined Fenerbahce in the 2024/25 season guiding them to second spot in the Turkey League. As always he remained controversial. He was critical of officiating in Turkey, and was handed a four-match ban – later reduced to two matches – for his comments about referees.
Mourinho in his career won two Champions League titles with Porto and Inter Milan, the Europa League with Manchester United and the Conference League with Roma.
He won two Premier League titles with Chelsea.
