Popular Ghanaian rap artist Michael Owusu Addo a.k.a Sarkodie, said he would do everything to protect the grass of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium playing pitch ahead of his ‘Rapperholic Concert’ billed for Saturday September 27, 2025, in Kumasi.
Ghana’s National Sports Authority had threatened to pull the plug on the concert if the playing pitch was not protected, it laid down guidelines that must be followed in the usage of the stadium.
However, reacting to the development, the veteran rapper wrote on his X social media page: “The rules were set from day one, and we are not ready to break it.”
He posted a video showing fans the floor plan for the concert assuring the authorities the grass would not be trampled upon as the fans would at the stands and he would be on the tartan tracks performing.
Meanwhile Sarkodie said he has been overwhelmed by the show of support from fellow artists.
“Almost all those who heard about the event called me to be included. I find it difficult to call for help, but most of them told me they wanted to support. For example, Shatta Wale reached out. He started with SHAXI, so all the cars I am moving out with right now are from Shatta Wale. The ones that will convey the artistes to the event are all sponsored by him.”
Sarkodie...lights up.
