A security guard identified as Amos Kini is explaining to the Lagos State police his involvement in the kidnap of a 2-years-old child from an apartment he was employed to protect.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi said in a statement Monday absconded with the toddler and later on demanded for ransom from the father of the child.
. “The incident occurred on September 21, 2025, at about 2350hrs, when the mother of the child reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.
“The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the father of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000.00) for his release.”
“On September 23, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.
“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Adebisi said.
