Real Madrid Tuesday night hammered lowly Kairat Almaty 5-0 away in their Champions League tie, with Kylian Mbappe reaching the milestone of 60 goals.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in Kazakstan as Real Madrid kept their impressive form. He got his first goal from the spot after Real Madrid struggled with Kairat Almaty making their debut in the Champions League.
Mbappe added a second from a one-on-one shortly after half-time, latching onto a Thibaut Courtois clearance, and completed his hat-trick by lashing home from outside the box.
Substitutes Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Diaz both scored to complete the rout in the closing stages.
Kylian Mbappe is now the Champions League’s 6th record scorer, climbing up the table from 9th before the game against Kairat.
Mbappé began the night with 57 goals in Europe’s elite competition, but his treble against Kazakstan minnows pushed him past several legendary names in one evening.
He now sits only behind Cristiano Ronaldo (141), Lionel Messi (129), Karim Benzema (90) and Raúl (71).
“A player like me, when I have five chances I should score five goals,” Mbappé told Movistar. “Today, I scored three, and that’s good, but I could have scored more. I’ll keep working to be more clinical in front of goal.”
