A top official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Shamsideen Oladiti a.k.a Shameleon, is facing charges of murder after allegedly beating a dispatch rider to death.
Oladiti,55, was arraigned before a magistrate court sitting at Ebute-Meta in Yaba Lagos, facing a three counts charge of murder, conspiracy and causing grievous bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecution Oladiti and others now at large on September 17, 2025, assaulted two men identified as Iman Ramon and Omale Samuel. Ramon later died of his injuries at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina. The offences, the court heard, this contravenes Sections 223, 411, and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Police investigations reveal that the victim during a traffic incident along Tapa Street, Lagos Island allegedly scratched Oladiti’s car and subsequently he and his associates assaulted Ramon until he collapsed on the ground.
The case was adjourned till October 28, 2025 and the defendant was remanded in prison custody.
