President Bola Tinubu is under pressure to do away with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike over alleged corrupt practices.
A social media campaign #WikeMustGo is currently trending in the wake of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Uche Nnaji’s resignation after allegations of certificate forgery on Tuesday.
Wike has been accused of land grabbing worth $6b in the FCT and also allegedly purchased choice property in Florida USA. Nigerians are asking President Tinubu to fire his ally even as Wike have insisted that the allegations were politically motivated.
So far Tinubu who benefited from Wike’s political maneuvers and is expecting to do so again in the 2027 elections, has remained silent in all the allegations, despite calls for him to sack Wike form his government if he is really serious about tackling corruption in the country.
