Embattled Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle said his team can win their two remaining matches and wait for other results to go their way for them to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Ahead of Friday’s tie against the “Crocs” of Lesotho, there is a general believe qualification is almost impossible for the Super Eagles even if they get six points that will bring them to 17 points. They are not in rated among the top four second placed team in the qualifying contest.
As for Chelle whose future with team hangs in the balance, anything can happen, but the Super Eagles must win against Lesotho in the game that would be played in South Africa first.
“There is chance for everybody to go to the World Cup. This is football — anything can happen during the game because of the weather, the referee, injuries, or other factors. So, we need to stay focused on what we want from this game,” the coach said.
“We want to have this victory, and after that, there will be another game. So, for sure, we must be 100% focused on this match against Lesotho — a great team with a good coach.
We need to start well, with a lot of intensity and aggressiveness, to score and to win this game.”
