South Africa coach Hugo Broos is hoping that Nigeria slip against Lesotho, and Benin lost to Rwanda for his Bafana Bafana to breath easily in the group C World Cup qualifiers.
The Bafana Bafana will face Zimbabwe Friday and then Rwanda on Tuesday; a win in those two games will see them through if Benin falters against Rwanda and Nigeria in their last games. However, Broos stressed the need for Bafana Bafana to make light work of Zimbabwe, otherwise their chances will evaporate.
“Benin could lose or maybe play draw in Rwanda, so you make plans but at the end there is only one team that is important and it is us,” Broos said Thursday.
“Benin can lose and even Nigeria can lose against Lesotho but if we lose against Zimbabwe, there’s a big problem then.
“Rwanda is next week now the focus is on Zimbabwe and that is the most important thing that we beat them.
“I know that in this team there is such a mentality that makes me confident as a coach when you have such two very important games in front of you.”
