Claims by the People’s Democratic Party national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu that his signature was forged concerning the party’s national convention billed for November, has been debunked.
Senator Anyanwu had petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Inspector General of Police over the alleged forgery of his signature for the party’s November 15–16 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
But speaking during a press briefing Monday in Abuja the PDP National Working Committee said Senator Anyanwu indeed signed the document in presence of party members including PDP governors in August 25 during National Executive Committee meeting.
According to PDP national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, Anyanwu personally signed the INEC letter and several other official documents on August 25.
He noted that the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki were all witness to Anyanwu signing the document.
The PDP spokesman further recalled that during the NEC meeting, the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, openly confirmed that all relevant letters, including the one to INEC, had been duly endorsed.
