Following the order by a Kano Magistrate Court for popular TikTok creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to get married within two months, the duo will undergo mental evaluation and other medical tests.
According to Kano Hisbah deputy commander, Mujahideen Aminuddeen, the lovers seem to be happy with themselves and the court order for them to marry, but before the marriage could take place, they have to undergo the various tests.
Mai Wushirya was seen shirtless in a TIKTOK video showing love affection to dwarf woman Yar Guda and they were subsequently arrested by the Kano State Censorship Board who accused them of circulating “immoral and demeaning acts” on social media.
Mai Wushirya and Yar Guda have been remanded in a correctional facility. According to Hisbah deputy commander Aminuddeen, the unusual couple are looking forward to getting married, but Yar Guda the dwarf woman has said this will only happen if they have a house of their own.
“We are happy with the court decision because it will serve as lesson to other people, they mustn’t post videos that do not follow our culture and Islamic values” Aminuddeen told BBC Pidgin.
“During the court hearing they confessed their true love for each other, and we have sent our people to visit the girl’s family in Zamfara.
“But before the marriage can go on, they have to meet certain conditions.
” First of all, we have to know where they come from and who are their parents
“We have to check their mental health and confirm whether or not they are using drugs.
“They have to do medical tests for Hepatitis, HIV, genotype, and sexually transmitted diseases.”
He added that people are already volunteering to help the strange lovers with most of the things they need to get married.
“Right now, we are appealing with the Kano governor to help provide accommodation where they stay after the wedding,” Aminuddeen added.
