Afrobeats star David Adeleke a.k.a Davido has been appointed spearhead the efforts to develop sports in Osun State.
According to a statement by the Osun State government Davido’s role as chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund is primarily to raise funds to drive the development and modernisation of sports facilities across the State.
The government emphasised that the move reflects Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for youth engagement.
Confirming the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, revealed that the award-winning singer was excited about the role and immediately accepted the offer.
“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed in the shortest possible time. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi said.
