The Sultan of Sokoto has been accused of having a hand in the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.
According to Mike Arnold a former Mayor of Blanco, Texas USA, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, allegedly have full knowledge of the recruitment of jihadists and other international terrorists who have caused havoc and continue to do so in Nigeria.
Writing on his X social media platform on Friday, Mr. Arnold dared the Sultan to prove to the world he was not involved.
“I challenge the Sultan of Sokoto to prove he’s not the architect of this genocide.”
“I challenge the Sultan to prove that he did not, while serving the Taliban in Afghanistan, connect with and recruit AlQaida and other international terrorist groups to Nigeria — where he has provided them safe haven, vast resources, and unlimited Christian blood to feed their bloodlust,” Arnold wrote.
Accusations of Christian Genocide from American politicians have dominated discussions in recent times with Senator Ted Cruz representing Texas pushing for a bill that will deter and punish those responsible. He stated that “50,000 Christians have been killed since 2009 with thousands of churches and Christian schools destroyed.”
However, northern Nigerian politicians including the Sultan of Sokoto himself have pushed back at the accusations.
“From time immemorial, Christians and Muslims have lived as brothers in the North. These allegations are false and are merely aimed at sowing discord among the inseparable faithful,” Sultan Abubakar III said recently.
The President Bola Tinubu administration also rejected the claim saying violence in the north has affected both Christians and Muslims.
