Police, Sowore play hide and seek in Lagos

Social activist and African Action Congress (AAC) founder, Omoyele Sowore, has denied he is hiding from the police after he was declared wanted.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Moshood Jimoh, earlier Monday had declared him wanted for disturbing public peace.
He said intelligence reports indicated that Sowore and his associates were planning to stage protests at various points in Lagos, and the police moved in to arrest them. But Sowore evaded arrest.
“Sowore should surrender at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found.
“Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law,” Jimoh told news reporters.
But Sowore writing on his X social page said he made efforts to contact the police commissioner on the phone, but he didn’t respond.
“The Lagos Police Commissioner, Moshood Jimoh, has reportedly declared me ‘wanted’ for ‘disturbance of public peace’, allegedly as a result of his officers’ inability to execute a ‘shoot on sight’ order given by his illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun in Oworonsoki today.
“Despite my repeated attempts to contact Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG Commissioner Jimoh, he has not taken my calls; nevertheless, I plan to meet with him soon to address his declaration. #RevolutionNow.”
