Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has written a letter to US President Donald Trump concerning his intervention in the killings by terror gangs in Nigeria.
The letter dated November 6 commended Mr. Trump for taking interest in the security situation in Nigeria. Kanu amplified Mr. Trump’s allegations of “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, stressing that the Nigerian security agents had been active participants in the killings in Christian dominated area of the country.
“This genocide is not confined to the North—it has metastasized into the Igbo heartland, where Judeo-Christians are being systematically exterminated under the guise of counterterrorism,” Kanu wrote.
He stressed that the attacks were not limited to the North, claiming that similar violence had spread to the South-East, South-South, and parts of the Middle Belt.
Citing specific incidents—including the 2016 Nkpor killings and the 2017 Port Harcourt pro-Trump rally where IPOB members were shot—Kanu told the former U.S. president that he possesses documentary evidence of what he called “state-backed atrocities”.
Kanu also wrote on his trial since been taken into custody by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari after was abducted by security agents in Nairobi Kenya in 2021.
