Nnamdi Kanu leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra will know his fate as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has fixing November 20 to deliver its judgement on the seven-count terrorism charge brought against him.
Mr. Kanu has been standing trial in the terrorism charge brought against him by the Federal government. At Friday’s hearing Kanu remained resolute in his submissions the case against him lacked merit and resfused to enter his defence. He filed a motion challenging the Court’s jurisdiction to try him.
He argued that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which the charge was brought against him, had since been repealed.
But before the day’s proceedings Kanu had a row with Department of State Services (DSS) officers who had brought him to the Court. As he made his way to his seat he shouted on top his voice the court doed not obey laws.
The confrontation caused momentary tension as lawyers, journalists and court officials watched the scene unfold before normalcy was restored. Kanu’s legal representatives have long accused security operatives of restricting access to him during court appearances, a claim the DSS has repeatedly denied.
