Nigeria may not be going to the 2026 World Cup as the Super Eagles have refused to train ahead of the playoffs beginning Thursday with a tie against Gabon.
The players are all complete in camp in Rabat, Morocco except Maduka Okoye. They have told the Nigeria Football Federation to pay up their outstanding camp allowance and bonuses in all the World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifier matches they have played. This amounts a 100,000 dollars each.
It was gathered that the players have not been paid and going into playoffs without word by the NFF concerning the owed allowances caused an angry response from the players.
Besides according to sources in Morocco the players have also asked the NFF to pay them special bonuses for the playoffs.
It was gathered that other countries involved in the four nations playoffs contest have agreed on a certain bonus amount to be paid to their players and the NFF was mute on this issue.
The Super Eagles are now asking for $15,000 as a bonus if they pick the ticket for the intercontinental playoffs in March.
The players refused to leave their hotel room as the bus that came to pick them up for the training idled away. NFF officials have so far kept sealed lips as the dispute lasted.
