Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has sensationally claimed his players were bewitched after losing 4-3 on penalty shootout to Congo DR in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier playoffs in Rabat, Morocco.

Onyeka’s drew the first blood of the contest with his 3rd minute deflected goal and before half time, that goal was cancelled out by the Leopards, after Alex Iwobi was caught in possession. Painfully Wilfred Ndidi couldn’t deal with the counter attack.
In the second half the Super Eagles were totally out muscled, but for the saves made by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali it would have been game over.
During the shootout Nwabali made two saves, but Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi missed their kicks. Congo DR more energised killed it off to earn the bragging rights for the intercontinental playoffs.
Coach Chelle blamed the loss on voodoo: “During the penalty shootout there was this Congolese guy who kept chanting and throwing what looked like water.
“The guy did some voodoo every time we wanted to play he kept doing something on us,”
But Nwabali had a contrary view: ” We did our best for the badge but our best was simply not good enough.
“We take responsibility for the disappointing night.”
