One of the 25 students at the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State has escaped the from the bandits’ hideout in the forest.
The schoolgirls were taken from their hostels by heavily armed terror gangs on Monday at about 4.00am after out gunning security men on ground. While they were being taken away one of the girls escaped from the grasp of the bandits.
And on Monday night another girl also escaped, the school principal Musa Rabi Magaji, confirmed that the girl was now back home with her parents.
“One is part of the 25 abducted, and the other one returned earlier,” Magaji said. “They are safe and sound,” he told the Associated Press.
No group has taken responsibility for the incident, but analysts and locals say it could be one of several gangs that often target schools, travellers and remote villagers in kidnappings for ransom.
The Nigeria army said Tuesday they have begun to search for the girls with the aid of local vigilantes and hunters.
