Victor Osimhen seems to have shut up Cameroon and Besiktas player Vincent Aboubakar with his spectacular bicycle kick goal in Galatasary 3-2 win over Samsunspor on Friday night.
Before the game Aboubakar had belittled the talents of the Super Eagles striker, saying he wasn’t a complete striker.
Osimhen scored a brace including a spectacular bicycle kick to bring his goals haul in the Turkey League to five from ten goals. He also has six goals to his credit in the Champions League and as they play against Monaco next week Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk is banking on his super striker to deliver before going to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking on Osimhen’s performance, Samsunspor president Yüksel Yıldırım acknowledged that Osimhen was a good investment by Galatasaray, and he wouldn’t be surprised if they win the league for a second time, they are four points clear of Fenerbahce.
“My ears were blocked while watching the match in the second half,” Yıldırım said.
“The Galatasaray fans were trying to stop Samsunspor with incredible whistling. Samsunspor asserted their dominance in the second half. We could have scored. We missed chances. ‘If we’re going to lose, let’s lose like this.’
“Then, in the 88th minute, we got the goal we were waiting for. We brought the score from 2-0 to 2-2. We thought the match would end like this. Then Victor Osimhen showed why he’s an €80 million player. No one else in Türkiye could have scored that goal.”
